Power of Commitment

Have you ever noticed that when someone is committed, more people are attracted to them?

I’m not talking about ‘committed’ like institutionalized…although some ‘committed’ individuals ‘should’ be institutionalized.

Nope.

I’m talking about the power of commitment.

Commitment

You're either in or you're out.

I’m talking about someone on a mission.

You know, the type of person who is so excited about what they’re doing, they’re passion and energy are contagious?

I was talking to a client the other day.

He was feeling depressed and discouraged. He had a few setbacks.

I listened to him vent for a little bit and then asked a few questions.

My questions were about “why” he’s doing what he’s doing? What’s the bigger picture?

I knew, but in that moment, he’d lost track of his bigger vision.

It forced him to interrupt his suffering and get back in touch with his mission – which is to carry out his vision.

Luckily for him, he had one.

Because he immediately reconnected with it and felt better.

He recognized a small setback during a long-term mission.

It worked for him.

Why don’t you try it?

  • Do you have a mission?
  • Do you have a vision of something greater than yourself?
  • Does it inspire you?

Without it, every obstacle and adversity can derail you for weeks or months.

With it, no obstacle or adversity can keep you down for very long.

Review it in the mornings before planning your day.

Review it in the evenings to have it be the last thing you see before going to bed.

But have one.
